Remember how I talked about kitchen hardware serving as jewelry in your home?

That same theory applies to door knobs.

(And light fixtures, too, but that’s a whole other blog post for another day.)

Door knobs often fall under the radar as insignificant accents in design but I’m here to tell ya, these small details pack a mighty impact on your space. Similar to architectural details like trim and molding, door knobs set the tone in a home in an understated, unassuming way that can completely make (or break!) the overall feel of the space.

No pressure or anything, right?

The good news, though, is that there are endless door knob styles and finishes to fit and style and budget for your home. (And 99.99% of those options are bound to be an improvement if you’re dealing with the same 1980’s door knobs we replaced.)

Jumpstart your knob replacement by skimming through your interior design boards on Pinterest and look for common themes in the spaces you’ve liked.

Seeing lots of minimalist lines and matte black finishes? Run with that. Coming across a surplus of classic chrome levers? Transform your doors with that same, silvery finish.

As for us?

I knew I wanted knobs that were timeless and traditional in style and crafted from durable materials that would last for years.

Enter: Nostalgic Warehouse.

My first purchase from Nostalgic Warehouse was the Clear Crystal Waldorf + Deco Long Plate door knob in the unlacquered brass finish.

The moment I unboxed this set I knew we were in trouble. The sheer weight, style and quality of this piece was unmatched and there was no going back — all of our door knobs had to be from Nostalgic.

This realization is, admittedly, not wonderful for our wallet, but our doors have never looked better and our home is finally beginning to really reflect the timeless glamour we’ve been working towards since day one.

THE ENTRY SET

Elegant and unfussy - this set makes the perfect addition to our foyer because it plays well with our inky black entry doors and will complement our black-and-white marble floors without overpowering the space.

THE FOYER DOOR

Snagged this stunner for the second door in our entryway. We opted for the antique brass finish in this knob because the entry set (directly beside this door) isn’t sold in unlacquered brass. I felt it was important for these doors to have matching finishes and I’m loving how it turned out.

MAIN BEDROOM + OFFICE DOOR

Our bedroom door and my office door are directly across from each other, separated by a long hallway on our second floor. I knew I wanted a long-plate door for our bedroom and Joey came up with the idea of mirroring the same knob across the hall, for my office. The back plate sports an unlacquered brass finish that complements the the Balboa Mist doors and the crystal knobs tie in with the Nostalgic Warehouse knob, downstairs.

GUEST BEDROOMS

Grabbed two sets of these classic rosette knobs for the two guest rooms upstairs and I’m grateful that I did. They feature the same crystal knob seen throughout the house and have a simple, unlacquered brass base that matches the finish of the other knobs upstairs and the kitchen cabinet hardware on the first floor.
